Brain network decay detected in early Alzheimer’s

In patients with early Alzheimer’s disease, disruptions in brain networks emerge about the same time as chemical markers of the disease appear in spinal fluid, School of Medicine researchers have shown. Beau Ances, MD, PhD, associate professor of neurology and of biomedical engineering, is senior author.

Brown School helps lead new public health association

The Brown School is helping lead a new association that brings together public health schools and programs. The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, launched Aug. 1, represents those accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health.

Reich named visiting professor in entrepreneurship by Skandalaris Center

Rob Reich, PhD, associate professor of political science at Stanford University, has been named the 2013-14 Wells Fargo Advisors Visiting Professor in Entrepreneurship by WUSTL’s Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. An expert on political theory, he will make four visits to WUSTL this academic year.

Poet Phillips to read Thursday, Sept. 5

Poet Carl Phillips, a professor of English and of African and African-American Studies, both in Arts & Sciences, will launch the Writing Program’s fall Reading Series. Phillips will read from his poetry at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, in Hurst Lounge, Duncker Hall.

Obituary: Victoria ‘Vicky’ Holtschlag, laboratory manager, 58???

Victoria "Vicky" Holtschlag, a laboratory manager in the School of Medicine’s Department of Pathology and Immunology and at Siteman Cancer Center, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, from an illness. She was 58.
